The first Annual Lourdes Family “Do”, held at the Marton Hotel and Country Club on Friday 25th July 2008, was a great success. Some 500 guests, including over 70 children and young teenagers, enjoyed themselves with a hugely popular ceilidh, followed by a late disco. Fundraising included a draw for a meal for 4 and a DVD player on the entry ticket, a bottle tombola for the older groups, a children’s tombola with free tickets given on entry, and a raffle. The popularity of the raffle was driven by the first prize of a Wii with games and flat screen tv, and other prizes of signed Boro pennant, £20 Voucher, bottle of whisky and £10 hairdressing voucher. There was also a silent auction for a free flight to Lourdes with the Diocesan Pilgrimage. At the last count over £3,250 had been raised and still counting……
